Antioxidants are important nutrients that help maintain health by slowing the destructive again process of cellular molecules. Giving your dog antioxidants can be important in improving immune responses and vaccine recognition.
This is especially critical for puppies that are being vaccinated while their immune systems are still in the process of development. A high quality puppy diet can support the development of a strong immune system to help your dog remain protected against viruses, bacteria, and parasites.
The most common antioxidants for dogs are vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E. These can be found in berries, fruits and vegetables. You can give your dog an antioxidant in tablet form also.
Some dog foods contain antioxidants, although they are not usually present in high enough quantities to make a difference in a dog's health. It is true that all dogs can benefit from antioxidants, but puppies and dogs with allergies, immune system problems, eye problems, or have disorders associated with aging will have an even greater benefit.
